Pass the Ketchup, Please: Antioxidants and Cancer
Friday September 23, 2005
Children really do learn about disease and prevention so early these days. My preschooler brought me a bottle of ketchup a few days ago and was determined that I eat it- right then, right there! When I asked him why, he said that he had heard on the morning news that ketchup has an ingredient called 'mikopene' and could help slow down cancer. My first thought was that my child watched entirely too much television, and then realized that he may be correct, only the "ingredient" he was speaking off is called lycopene.
In "Antioxidants and Cancer", we'll talk about what antioxidants are, if they prevent cancer, and how to find them!
