Breakfast Club Principal Dead of Lung Cancer

Actor Paul Gleason, famed for his role as the principal in the Breakfast Club, has died of a rare form of lung cancer. He was 67.
Gleason suffered from mesothelioma, a type of lung cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos. It was not released how long ago he was diagnosed.
You may also remember Paul Gleason in films like Trading Spaces, Die Hard, and Johnny Be Good. He was most recently cast in National Lampoon's Van Wilder.
In his youth, Gleason was quite the athlete, playing football at Florida State University with Burt Reynolds and Robert Urich. He also played minor league baseball for the Cleveland Indians, but was never called up to the majors.
It has been said that Gleason's desire to become an actor came after seeing the 1960's film Splendor in the Grass . He studied acting under famed acting coach, Lee Stasberg.
He is survived by wife, Susan, two daughters and a granddaughter. Funeral arrangements were not announced.
