Film Critic Roger Ebert To Have Cancer Surgery
Thursday June 1, 2006
Roger Ebert, film critic from the Chicago Sun-Times and "Ebert and Roeper" co-host will undergo cancer surgery on his salivary gland. The surgery is scheduled for June 16. The announcement appeared in today's edition of the Chicago Sun Times.
Ebert is no stranger to cancer, as he was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer in 2002. The cancer was treated successfully with surgery. In 2003, he had radiation therapy and surgery to treat salivary gland cancer, a type of head and neck cancer.
In the Chicago Sun-Times article by fellow columnist Robert Feder, Ebert is quoted as saying the cancer is not life threatening and he will continue his role as a film critic on and off the air. He is expected to make a full recovery.
