Learning to Recognize Prostate Cancer Symptoms

Prostate cancer is a disease all men need to be concerned with, even if they do not hav a family history of the disease. Did you know that over 225,000 men will be diagnosed in 2006 with prostate cancer, making it the most common type of cancer in men? The bottom line is that 1 in 6 men will develop the disease.

Prostate cancer screening tests, like the PSA test and digital rectal exam are essential in early detection. Men can also learn to recognize prostate cancer symptoms, like frequent nocturnal urination for detection. Report any prostate cancer symptoms to your doctor immediately!When detected early, prostate cancer is very treatable.

Septmeber kicks off National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month! This month organizations, churches, schools, and other venues will promote prostate cancer awareness. Visit the National Prostate Cancer Coalition for events, free screenings, and more.
