Does an ASCUS Pap Smear Result Mean Cervical Cancer?

My last Pap smear came back as ASCUS. Now, my doctor is sending me for a colposcopy and possible biopsy. Does this mean my doctor thinks I may have cervical cancer?

The great thing about Pap smears is that they can detect cervical changes long before they become cancerous. An ASCUS Pap smear basically means mild changes were detected on the cervix. In fact, ASCUS Pap smear results are the most common type of abnormal Pap smear.
