65,000 Americans Will Be Diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2006

Lymphoma is one of those diseases that people often talk about in passing, yet know little about. Lymphoma is a disease that affects the lymphatic system, part of our immune system that filters out bacteria and fight disease.Lymphoma symptoms are often what prompts people to seek medical attention, yet the disease can be initaially misdiagnosed. The symptoms of lymphoma are commonly associated with many other illnesses. There are two main types of lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Hodgkin's lymphoma is commonly referred to as Hodgkin's disease.
Lymphoma affects both children and adults. Prognosis varies among patients, depending on type of lymphoma and stage of the disease.
