Cancer Survivor Announces Run for Presidency

Thursday September 6, 2007
Fred Thompson, a Hollywood actor and former US senator, has announced his plans to run for President. Earlier this year, Thompson revealed that he has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but it is currently in remission. He added in the interview that he has had the non-aggressive form of lymphoma for over two years and the disease or treatment has not been debilitating. If the cancer returns, Thompson is assured that the disease can be managed effectively with drugs with minimal side effects.

Fred Thompson's honesty about his diagnosis is admirable. Although he feels that his cancer would not affect his ability to perform Presidential duties, will voters see it his way?
