How the Ancient Egyptians Treated Cancer

Monday November 17, 2008
Believe it or not, cancer has afflicted people for several centuries. It is not a new disease. It is because of the early research done in the past that we hold a greater knowledge of cancer today. In fact, cancer treatment methods can be found on hieroglyphics in Ancient Egyptian scrolls. So, how did the ancent Egyptians treat cancer?

What does the Unicef Logo mean? Is there a reason why the Unicef Logo is represented that way? Actually there is, each of the elements displayed on the symbol have a special meaning.

The Unicef logo consists of four elements, the olive branches, the globe, a mother and her child, and finally the UNICEF acronym. The olives branches are a symbol for peace, which surround the globe. The globe represents the areas of interest in which the U.N. develops plans for peace and security, for all the people in the world , which is it’s main goal.

John,

What do you mean when you struggled with mesothelioma cancer? Did you have a family member/lover one with the disease? Have you had it and are one of the few fortunate enough to be in remission?

As to asbestos, people may be suprised to know that asbestos is still imported and used in the U.S. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. imported and used an estimated 1,820 tons of asbestos in 2007, an estimated 84% of which was used in roofing materials. (See
http://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/commodity/asbestos/mcs-2008-asbes.pdf) Also, the U.S. House of Representatives is considering a bill H.R. 6903 The Bruce Vento Ban Asbestos and Prevent Mesothelioma Act to ban the future importation and use of asbestos (it is already banned in 40 countries) and provide funding for medical research into effective
treatments for asbestos-related diseases. Also, around the 2007 Christmas season, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization tested household products, such as duct tape, and toys and found they contained asbestos. (See http://www.banasbestos.us/).
