Actor Matthew Modine Advocate for Pancreatic Cancer
Sunday November 30, 2008
Actor Matthew Modine, who rose to fame in the 1987 film, “Full Metal Jacket“, has recently become a member of the board of directors for The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer. In 1996, Modine lost his father to the disease and has now become actively involved in helping to fight it. The purpose of the Lustgarten Foundation is to make advancements in research pertaining to all aspects of pancreatic cancer and to bring more awareness to the illness.
As with many families, Modine was not familiar with pancreatic cancer before his father was diagnosed. Experiencing the disease first-hand through his father has motivated the actor to help others who are dealing with the same prognosis. There is no doubt he will make an excellent effort in helping the Lustgarten Foundation with their mission.
