Can Laughter Heal Cancer?
Sunday November 30, 2008
Is laughter really the best medicine? The Montefiore Hospital in New York seems that it certainly may help. They have developed a program for cancer patients who are in various stages of their disease called “Strength Through Laughter.” Although studies have not been to effectively prove that laughter does heal, it is shown to lower blood pressure and reduce stress. The “Strength Through Laughter” program is being used as a monthly therapy session, and includes comedy films, clowns, jokes, and more. It has become such a success that other hospitals around the country are looking to train their staff so they too can offer the program.
