Did Steve Jobs Have a Liver Transplant To Treat Pancreatic Cancer?

Monday June 22, 2009
Some medical professionals say yes. Steve Jobs, founder of the Apple brand, reportedly had a liver transplant about two months ago, however the reason for it was not disclosed. Jobs was diagnosed and treated for pancreatic cancer five years ago made no mention of it being cancer related. Many docs are speculating that it may be a method of preventing his rare pancreatic cancer type from spreading to the liver - a common place of metastasis for this type of cancer. Jobs has been on a medical leave of absence from his post at Apple since January. Again, Jobs was very secretive about his LOA.

After this ordeal, many question how much information about our health do we need to tell our workplace? Reports say that the Apple board is a little annoyed because they have been left out of health loop of Steve Jobs. Jobs plays a monumental role as the CEO of Apple and is involved in every facet of the company's operations, down to choosing the chef in the employee dining facility. Some have even speculated that Apple may lose much of its success without Jobs.

Sound off! Do you think that Jobs should have to reveal private health matters to the Apple board of directors so they can make appropriate financial and administrative decisions? Leave your thoughts in the "Comments" section below.

We are already monitored by our credit cards, on the internet as we surf, those cams on the traffic lights and other places like elevators and public places for our OWN safety and security….can we just have our homes and our health to ourselves? p l e a s e? thank you

I am guessing Steve Jobs probably is treating his pancreatic cancer. I have worked in hospital wards with terminal cancer patients who have pancreatic cancer, and he is looking exactly like how they do, in their last several months of life. It is very sad and I feel badly for Mr. Jobs and his family.

Absolutely not! Steve Jobs has the right to his privacy. If a medical condition isn’t a threat to other people, then it’s nobody’s business. Why are we so obsessed with high-profile people’s private business? How can people heal when they are hounded continually?!

What doctors are suggesting that liver transplant could ever be a treatment for pancreatic cancer? Can you cite some sources for that statement?

Lets get some facts before we dismiss anyone on the Apple Board for what amounts to accusations of nasty arrogant, selfish, indifferent behavior behavior. It is maddening to think that members of a Board would not grant complete privacy to a dying man. especially one who gave them purpose for existence. But all we have are second hand statements. Be fair – if there is no evidence that the charge is true, stay cool. If the allegations are true, provide the following agreement: As a condition of continued service they will be required to provide to all other board members their medical records and donate one of their kidneys or transplantible organ tissue to a recipient within 90 days.
