Farrah Fawcett Dies at Age 62

Thursday June 25, 2009
Hollywood legend Farrah Fawcett has passed away, succumbing to her long battle with anal cancer. She died Thursday morning, according to her publicist. Farrah was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. It was reported that it had metastasized to her liver, causing frequent stays at the hospital.

Longtime lover and companion Ryan O'Neill was by her side. "She's gone. She now belongs to the ages ... She's now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She's in a better place now.", the actor said of her death to People.

According to her publicist's blog, Farrah was given her Last Rites Wednesday evening. The blog shares candid insight into Farrah's last days, with her fighting just as strong as ever. It is evident that Farrah never gave up hope or the will to survive.

While today the world may have lost a talented, beautiful actress, I know that I have gained a hero. Farrah's strength and courage will never leave me. She serves a source of inspiration to us all, even in death. As Farrah would say, "keep fighting the fight".
