Medicinal Marijuana and Cancer Treatment

Wednesday October 28, 2009

The use of medicinal marijuana has always been a controversial topic, but when the U.S. Attorney General set forth guidelines urging more states to be more lenient of medicinal users, it has become a hot political topic. Despite it's strong support from the medical oncologic community, some people strongly oppose medicinal marijuana. They claim it is highly addictive and a gateway drug

I certainly believe that marijuana is addictive and can be a gateway drug for those who use the drug recreationally. People with cancer, however, do not use marijuana to get high. The goal is to control the pain, relieve the nausea, and hopefully stimulate the appetite.  It is certainly difficult to completely understand the stress, frustration, and decline of the quality of life that people with cancer endure without experiencing it for yourself  or witnessing a loved one go through it. I have known several cancer patients who used medicinal marijuana legally and have found immense, immediate relief. They only required one medication (medicinal marijuana) to combat treatment side effects instead of 4-5 pharmaceutical drugs.

With that being said, how do you feel about medicinal marijuana?

Poll: Do you think it is acceptable to smoke marijuana for medicinal purposes?

We fuss and worry about what cannabis *might* do while its prohibition *is* causing the brutal murder of more than 6,000 people every year.

Isn’t the harm being caused by marijuana’s prohibition far in excess of any theoretical harm that might be caused by cannabis itself?

And isn’t it weird that we talk like cannabis isn’t being used right now when all the statistics tell us that it’s being WIDELY used and has been for the entire seventy years of its prohibition. We’re *already* living with whatever harms it might cause, making it legal for adults isn’t going to change that.

Marijuana has been around for many many years. It alway’s will be. The big difference is IT is not addictice this is propaganda frpm the higher ups that are gpoing to lose money after legalization. I started smoking when I was just out of 6th grade. I am not saying I am proud to have started at 6th grade level. but it was an everyday thing we did. When we ran out we would look for more. WE did not go through withdrdawls at any level. This is just something to make Marijuana way worse than it is,and has been for many years By the way I am short of 49years old. I have been to the Doctor for many things blood work, broken bones, etc. During my times when I was younger than now a person would be lucky to set down and smeome and smoke half an ounce of pot. You would go sleep not OVREDOSE. What is out in the world now that is sprayed, grown mixed in it pot, is what’s msking pot smoking more dangerous, When you talk about it leading to harder drugs think about it! We have these out of control kids and some adults lacing pot with cocaine, pcp, cicarettes, formulas out of morgues they spay on either the plant or ready made bags to sell. It gives those type of people an extra High that is not neede except for when they find pot that can’t get an ant high so they mix it for strenght not truly knowing the damage it an and will cause The poison in it. I have been studying pot for close to 40 years or a little longer, I have never Overdosed nor anyone around me whether it was just a few or upward of 50-60 people. There was never one problem with Overdose, seeking stronger drugs, wanting to go kill anyone. When I was sick to my stomach it helped, It helped so much with my chronic pian I felt I was in a new world, I became Myself again. I honestly don’t expect people without chronic Pain or other chronic Ilnesses that this does work for (Pot) But oneday you just might find your self there robbed of your life being able to walk, eat enen associate with people again because your depression will no longer be apart of your life when WE The People Can Start Living Again And Without Fear of being able to live a life close to the ones putting us down and getting rid of us through the legal system. I have so many things to say about this I have started a book and most of what I write, email is protected under aCopyright agreemant { Troy Pittman}which at this point I have not said a lot but enough to make so people think. Sa far as Marijuan causing cancer I will find my legit article the reasons why pot is it that group. I promise you will bw amazed if not indenial. Thats all I have right now
