Last week, a Baltimore man became the first person in the US to receive a synthetic trachea made of stem cells that were harvested from his own bone marrow. Christopher Lyles' own trachea had been severely damaged by cancer and with no curative treatment available, the 30 year old looked to the Advanced Center for Translational Regenerative Medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden for help.
The Swedish team was able to grow tissue from Lyles' own stems cells to create a trachea. The procedure was not covered by insurance and is an estimated to be $300,000 to $600,000. According to news outlets, Lyle's family appealed to charities for financial assistance for the procedure.
Lyles certainly isn't the first cancer patient to leave the country for treatment. Would you travel to another country to get treatment? Leave your thoughts in the 'Comments' section below.

What a shame it is that we have to see a travel agent if we want regenerative therapy.
If u don’t hav a hoe, u need 2 go to others and borrow it. Likewise, if the country does have medical necessities, we likely must go to other countries with adequate necessities!!!!!!!
