As we bid farewell to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we welcome National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
You may see purple ribbons here and there, but very little in comparison to the pink ribbons that create awareness for breast cancer. Pancreatic cancer research is shamefully underfunded and the disease desperately needs awareness. I challenge you to learn more about pancreatic cancer this month and share what you know with a friend or family member. You can start with the basics, such as pancreatic cancer symptoms or learning who is at risk.

It is certainly a shame that pancreatic cancer has been underrecognized for its shear numbers and substantial decimation that it causes the patient… and their families, loved ones and friends. It only takes a moment to look at the faces of Pavarotti, Joan Crawford, Dizzy Gillespie, Patrick Swayze or Steve Jobs over time to know what terrible tolls on the body it brings about.
Please make an effort to know that the ~40,000 people in the US or ~250,000 worldwide who will die of pancreatic cancer 1 year from now… could be you and that is more than will die from breast cancer in the same time.
Thanks for putting up this information!
