Actress and Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The 41 year old mom of four revealed details of her diagnosis and treatment on The Modern Mom YouTube channel. The star will soon undergo a thyroidectomy, a surgical procedure to remove all or part of her thyroid gland.
Burke is just one of quite a few celebrities who have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Modern Family star Sofia Vergara was diagnosed with the disease over a decade ago at age 28. Film critic Roger Ebert was diagnosed in 2002 and has undergone many surgeries to treat the disease, which has left him unable to communicate verbally. Rod Stewart, Joe Piscopo, and Catherine Bell are all also celebrities who are thyroid cancer survivors.
