Question: If a breast lump is painful, does that mean that it is not cancer?

I heard that breast cancer lumps are painless. I recently found a breast lump that hurts. Does this mean tyhat it is not cancer?

Answer: Breast cancer produces lumps that are both painful and painless. Most of the time they are painless, however every breast lump needs to be evaluated by physician.

It has been a common breast cancer myth that if a lump is painful, then it is not cancer. However, this is a myth, and completely untrue.
