Definition: An otolaryngologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions and diseases related to the ears, nose, and throat. They are also known as ENT (ears, nose, and throat) doctors.
In relation to cancer, otolaryngologists may help diagnose and treat cancers of the head and neck, such as laryngeal cancer. When a person is experiencing symptoms related to the ears, nose, or throat, a primary care physician may refer them to an otolaryngologist.
