Who is Edie Falco?:

You may know Edie Falco from the hit show The Sopranos. Edie played Carmella Soprano, wife of mob boss Tony Soprano. She has also starred in movies like Fargo and Copland. Falco can now be seen the acclaimed television series Nurse Jackie.

Edie Falco's Cancer Diagnosis:

Edie Falco was diagnosed with stage I breast cancer in 2003. Edie is among the 200,000 women who are affected by breast cancer every year.

Edie Falco's Breast Cancer Treatment:

Edie remained very discreet about her breast cancer treatment, not revealing details about her diagnosis and treatment until a year later. It was noted in the media that after her treatment, she sported a super short hairdo, which many speculated was due to chemotherapy related hair loss. Falco later confirmed in interviews that she did indeed did undergo chemotherapy.

Edie Falco's Cancer Prognosis:

Edie's rep was quoted in December 2004 as saying that she hadn't had treatment in over five months and was very healthy. The actress has gone on to adopt two children, a boy and a girl named Anderson and Macy.

Her Age at Diagnosis:

Edie was 40 when diagnosed with breast cancer. Although breast cancer tends to affect older women, young women are vulnerable to the disease, as well. There are several breast cancer risk factors that increase the likelihood that you may develop it.
