Question: Does aspartame cause cancer?

Aspartame is a low calorie, artificial sweetener. It is about 200 times sweeter than sugar. You may recognize it by 'Nutrasweet' or 'Equal'.

Answer: According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), aspartame does not cause cancer. Aspartame was approved for use in 1981, and amidst controversy in the mid 1980's reevaluated aspartame's safety and found it to be can safe to consume.
