A sudden, unintentional loss of weight with or without other symptoms warrants a trip to the doctor. It probably does not indicate cancer, but better to be on the safe side.

Many women with ovarian cancer report weight loss as a symptom. It usually happens suddenly without dieting or effort.

I have always considered myself to be in good shape. I watch what I eat and exercise a few times a week. When I checked my weight at the gym one day, I noticed I lost 10 pounds. I was also experiencing other things like pelvic pain. The weight loss really alerted me to see a doctor. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2 months later.

The bottom line is that any sudden spike or drop in weight needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Keep in mind that weight loss because of a disease occurs without dieting or cutting calories. it is unintentional weight loss, meaning you have done nothing to lose the weight.
