Delicious Low Iodine Recipes

Updated June 13, 2014

A low iodine diet doesn't have to be frustrating! Low iodine recipes can easily be found or created with a little effort and creativity. The low iodine recipes below were not created specifically for those on the diet, but are free of forbidden ingredients, such as canned foods, seafood, and dairy.

When preparing these recipes, there are a few things to keep in mind. You must not use regular, iodized table salt in the recipes! Always use non-iodized or kosher salt. Second, remember that you can only have 5 ounces of meat per day. Finally, always use fresh meat and read the meat packaging label. Avoid meats that contain injected broth and salt.

These appetizers make great low iodine snacks. Make a few batches and use throughout the week. Some of the salsa recipes are great accompaniments to add flavor to meats, like baked chicken.

Low Iodine Vegetarian Recipes

Even though the diet appears to be vegetarian friendly, it still can be difficult for those who don't eat meat.
