What Type of Brain Tumor Were You Diagnosed With?

Acoustic Neuroma

What Symptoms Did You Have Before Being Diagnosed?

Main symtom was loss of hearing in one ear, some balance issues, headaches, nausea

What Tests Led To Your Diagnosis?

I had blood tests, hearing tests and finally a MRI and a CT Scan

How Did Treatment Affected Your Day-To-Day Life?

I am having surgery shortly to remove the 3.4cm growth but I can no longer drive, cant walk much, need so much help due to fatigue. I can no longer do the simple things in life at the moment. It has been hard on my family and my partner as I am not so independant anymore. I was really sporty and athletic before this and now I can hardly get off the couch. Most of the time there is not much pain but I get a lot of intercranial pressure which seems to make my left eye lose sight for a brief second before it clears.

Advice

  • I found a support group and that helps to talk to people who are going through the same thing. Parents dont ignore the symptoms, I was misdiagnosed for about 6 years. If it had of been found when it was smaller I could have had more treatment options and way less symptoms. My tumour is benign so I am forever grateful for that.
