How Long After Having a LEEP Did You Become Pregnant?

I had LEEP 14 years ago.

Did You Have Any Complications in Your Pregnancy?

Not so far. I am 41 so I was a bit surprised about getting pregnant. I was told I would not be able to carry to term if I ever got pregnant after LEEP.

Did You Have a Successful Pregnancy?

I have three weeks to go so technically I'm already considered full term. I haven't had any problems but I did let my doctor know about the Leep and I started having my cervix checked every doctors visit at 28 weeks instead of the normal 36 weeks. I had read about an incompetent cervix due to LEEP so I was a little nervous.

Advice

  • Be sure to tell your doctor so he or she can keep an eye on your cervix. There is a procedure they can do called a "purse string stitch" that will keep your cervix closed until they remove it at about 37 weeks. I did not have to have that done because my cervix has stayed closed. I'm at 37 weeks and I am still not dilated.
