When Were You Diagnosed with Throat Cancer?

March 2010

What Symptoms Did You Have Before Being Diagnosed?

Small lump in neck, nothing else

Which Tests Did You Undergo?

CT scan PET/CT scan, needle biopsy and biopsy of the tongue.

How Has Treatment Affected Your Day-To-Day Life?

The treatment was brutal but it is tolerable, I now need to have water all the time due to dry mouth. Sore throat a lot but it's tolerable. Still have trouble eating bread (doesn't break down), beef and anything dry. Balance is affected somehow and slight memory issues.

Advice

  • Have faith and prayer helps, have other pray for you
  • Get the feeding tube early before you need it, while you're healthier!
  • Try not to lose weight, protein helps you heal.
  • After treatment watch out for sun damage from radiation, wear sunscreen and hats/carves, etc.
  • watch your self, it's your body! I found a lump in my neck and everyone said it was nothing, it happened to be three small tumors.
  • Have a positive outlook, don't give up.
